Next week we are going to run through:

Nkosi Sikeleli, Bella Ciao, Ani Vodka, Happy Together and may also do a reminder of Bamba Lela.

We will spend a good portion of time starting on ‘Imagine’. I would like to try a small number (two or three voices) on the main tune. We may not do it like that for the performance, we’ll see. Have a think about whether you would be keen to give this a go.

We will be upstairs in the Henry Wood room again. This is the final week before our half term break, which is on the 30th May. We will have a rehearsal as usual on Wednesday 6th June. If anyone fancies a bout of Irish set-dancing (partner dancing, a little like barn dancing) on our half term Wednesday 30th May, let me know.

Last night was a treat, thank you. You achieved a really soft tone for Nkosi, were breathing together and created a touch of magic. Beautiful, well done. It gives us something really good to build from.

Please listen to Nkosi this week and spend some time learning the words, speaking and singing them aloud. We will work on Nkosi, run Happy Together, Bella Ciao and re-cap Bamba Lela. We will be singing verses 1, 2, 5 & 6 of Bella Ciao. Please make sure you are familiar with them.

Really good rehearsal last Thursday and lovely to see regulars back and newbies.

If you missed it we worked on:

- Bamba Lela and Hashivenu.

- Ani Vodka first half.  Really work on the strength of tone we need and listen to the next section.

- Let Love Rain Down first two sections, which came together really well and much quicker than I expected, so well done.  NB on the sound files.  At the moment the Bass line is listed as Tenor, Tenors use the Alto file, Altos use Soprano 2.  If anyone wants to join the Tenors as they get to sing the tune, then please move over next rehearsal (not everyone of course!)

- Sloop John B chorus first bit.  Please have a listen to the 1st verse and the chorus for Thurs.  Remember there are 2 alto parts!

This week we will start on  I’ll lay ye doon love and go over stuff we’ve covered to date (so include The Storm is passing and Shona first sections from a couple of weeks ago).

Have a good week and don’t forget to practise!  Remember singing really helps you feel better, especially in this miserable weather.

On Thursday Charlotte will be finishing Tebe Poem with you, she will also be doing Singabahambayo Tina and hearing how much of Gospel Train you remember from your first week. Please make sure that you know what you are doing for Tebe and Gospel train!

She will also no doubt have all sorts of fun warm ups etc.. for you so I know you’re in very good hands!

My apologies not to have posted sooner this week, must have been getting carried away with bank holiday excitement.

Well done for a lovely sound last Wednesday, and a great start on Happy Together, gave us all a giggle hey Looking forward to having another crack at it this week.
